We had driven past this place a hundred times before and never stopped. Big mistake. But finally last weekend, we took Mya to the “Wild West Days” at Mahaffie Stagecoach and it was a blast. The Wild West Days only happens once a year, but this place is constantly having events and festivals, offering families hands-on, interactive, and unique experiences. Mya was definitely one of the youngest kiddos there (since activities included gold panning, leather stamping, blacksmithing, air gun shooting, and branding!) But she definitely enjoyed petting tickling the miniature donkeys and 3000 lb oxen.
Admission was $5/ adult with a stagecoach ride included. As we waited in line for the stagecoach, Mya enjoyed the Fiesta Mexicana dancers in their bright colored dresses. (Us parents appreciated them placing some lively entertainment next to the long line!)
Have you ever pet and fed an alpaca? You should because they’re delightful. Their noises sound like gentle hums. Mya kept asking their owner for “more food” so they’d come back over and nibble it out of her hand.
After walking the grounds, we have discovered that our lil’ lady might be a natural farm-hand… as you can see in her stance.
We will most definitely be making our way back to Mahaffie Stagecoach for more events or during their regular hours. This place is a “hidden” gem in the KC area.
The fun-filled trip wore Mya out. She could barely keep her head up on our nightly walk! Yes, she’s a bit dramatic. And yes, her dog is wearing shoes.
